Charlie has just
been persuaded to volunteer his services as Chairman of the AHPC. Being the
only person to do so he was duly elected in at the AGM in December 2004. Flying Robin Smith’s old Avian Amour he showed that
even 15 years away from flying doesn’t hinder you, and hopefully this year as

- Marital status: Happily divorced with 3 children around.
- Born: Torphins.
- Where do you live now? Mintlaw.
- Occupation: Gardener.
- Any previous occupations? Copper.
- How and when did you start flying? At Southfodd in 1975 with a guy in the Navy (Commander Miles Collis). I still have my copy of Wing issue 5.
- Which pilot(s) most influenced you? Gustav of course (note the beard).
- What is your favourite flying site in Britain? Tap or Cairnwell.
- What is your favourite flying site in Europe? Ager (it’s the only one I’ve been to).
- What is your favourite flying site in the World? Tap or Ager.
- When and where was your most memorable flying experience? Flying my brand new Magic 36 miles from Cairnwell, crossing Balmoral at 6000’. I landed because I was cold and thought I’d done enough, even though I was in a convergence line heading all the way back to the Cairngorms.

· Who do you most admire in the sport? Bob Bailey is the only one I remember. Oh, and Bob of course. · What is the trait that you most deplore in yourself? Smoking (though he hasn’t smoked all evening). · What is the trait that you most deplore in others? Dishonesty. · When not flying, what do you do for recreation? Gardening; I would add shagging as well but that doesn’t seem to happen anymore. · What is your favourite piece of music? Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits. · What is your favourite book? Jonathon Livingstone Seagull. · What is your favourite film? Starwars. All of them. · What is your greatest fear? Not being able to fly (been there, seen it, done it, gave it up). · What is your idea of perfect happiness? In bed with Kylie Minogue. · What would your motto be? You Can Always Get Rid of the Bitch. · How would you like to be remembered? Got rid of the bitch. |
