1. NAME OF THE CLUB
The Club shall be known as the “Aberdeen Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club” and shall be affiliated to the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association and the Scottish Hang Gliding and Paragliding Federation.
2. OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the club shall be to promote the sport of Hang Gliding (including Paragliding); to negotiate for and protect the use of flying sites in the Grampian area; to encourage responsible attitudes amongst its members.
3. MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the club shall be open to anyone, except that full (i.e. flying) membership shall be open only to members of the B.H.P.A. The annual subscription for members shall be set at the A.G.M. for (a) Full members and (b) Social members. Subscription shall be for the calendar year.
4. OFFICE BEARERS
Club officers shall be selected annually and will be as follows: Chairman, Secretary, Safety and Training Officer, Sites Officer, Treasurer and Newsletter Editor.
5. COMMITTEE
The committee shall consist of the elected office bearers plus any other members they see fit to co-opt.
6. MEETINGS SHALL BE CONVENED AS FOLLOWS:
Annual General Meeting to be held in November each year. Members to be notified at least 14 Days in advance. Notification shall include a full agenda and audited accounts.
A Special General Meeting shall be held at the request of not less than one third of the total membership, addressed to the Club Secretary and stating the reason for the request.
Decisions taken at any duly convened meeting of the club or the club committee shall be by a simple majority of the members present and voting. In the event of tied voting the chairman shall have an additional casting vote.
7. FINANCE
The funds of the club shall be administered by the committee through the duly appointed Treasurer. Money may be drawn from the Club’s bank account on the signature of either the Chairman or Secretary or Treasurer, unless the funds are intended for any of the above in which case two signatures are required.
The financial year shall end on 30th October when duly audited accounts shall be presented at the A.G.M.
8. FLYING SAFETY AND SITE RULES
Flying, safety and other rules pertaining to the use of particular sites, as decided by the committee from time to time, will be furnished in writing to each member upon joining and will be updated where necessary for reissue. The committee may suspend membership. The committee may reinstate membership. A suspended member has the right of appeal to the B.H.P.A.
9. ALTERATIONS TO THE CONSTITUTION
Alterations to the constitution may be made only at the A.G.M. or a Special General Meeting convened for that purpose. The proposed change(s) shall be detailed in the notice calling the meeting. At least two thirds of the members present must vote for the proposed alteration in order to carry it.
